A staple for any exhibition space. Often utilised to provide information of all kinds to your patrons. A word from the artist, provide background on an artwork, honour your sponsors, display your conditions of entry, say hello, or say goodbye. If it can be written down it can be put into a didactic.

There’s plenty of opportunity to be creative with your information delivery. If you would like to know more about Didactics then we would be happy to answer any of your questions and provide more info!

There’s often a hesitancy towards floor graphics in the gallery world. And rightfully so, We’ve only seen this kind of work really be explored in recent years. But we’re finding, the more designers and clients come to be familiar with the product and the process, the more excited and creative they begin to be with utilising the technique.

It’s eye catching, there’s no question. So let’s break down some of the hesitant points so you can be confident in the final product you’ll be receiving.

Most of our floors have only needed to last about 6-12 months however some have gone beyond this. We’re yet to run into any major problems.

People are walking around on this graphic, kid’s might run around, bags being dropped, there is always opportunity for damage to occur, Who knows what could happen.

However this isn’t ever resulted in any measures more drastic than a simple patch to replace the damaged area.

We are taking extra measures to ensure edges and overlaps are not a problem either and haven’t run into any problems involving these components that again need any more than a patch.

Cleaning is fine however some care needs to be taken. It’s important to make sure the direction of the the mop/broom/vacuum goes down away from the overlaps, pushing them up can result in dirt slowly getting underneath and compromising the adhesion of the graphic.

We recently installed a graphic in at ACMI that covered an entire floor and it was noted that it made the 3 months with no problem and even at the end during de-install, they we’re surprised with how it held up even running scissor lifts and trollies back and forward over it.

That’s not to say you should go running the scissor over it during install, in-fact we would recommend using temporary floor as we did with ACMI if you needed to do this. But it is a great testament to how the floor graphic is able to weather even some of the higher amount’s of stress.

I hope this gives you a nice insight to floor graphics, continue scrolling to see a few photo examples of this kind of work.

Please reach out if you have any more questions involving floor graphics, we’re always happy to chat.

A Lightbox is a beautiful way to add dimension to your artwork. Using light behind a print can enhance the story told by the artwork, give it more depth and peaking interest by adding an element that isn’t often utilised in art display. Draw attention to particular areas in the room or even in the print.

These prints are created around the use of light, artificial or natural. But beyond that there is plenty of room for creativity. Both in the box/source of light and in the artwork itself.

Using different materials to create different effects. A translucent film to produce a photo effect. A stretched fabric can add texture to a print, great for a tapestry, or old style look. There’s heaps to explore in this domain. Check out our Pinterest for some inspiration.

As stated the graphics require light. We do produce the boxes as well as the prints, so we’re happy to work through it all with you to the end. You can see more on our lightboxes here, but we recommend reaching out with a phone call.

It’s an exciting  technique that is still very young and has so much potential for application. If you have any thought’s to include something like this in your show, we’d love to have a chat.

Needs no Introduction, and not much to say either.

It’s a wallpaper, Simple.

Things to note;

The material is removable.

The materials we use have been approved by the conservation team at NGV for use in gallery spaces.

There are different material options for different applications. Internal vs External even the quality of the finish. Some graphics will be more suited to a photographic look whereas some might be better as a softer wallpaper look.

Great for installs as short as 2 or 3 months and on the other side, we’ve had walls go up and stay up for 5 even 10 years now. So timeline isn’t a huge factor.

Different finishes are available, variation for different styles of graphic.

Our Wallpaper options are either recyclable or bio degradable.

We are also able to do a laminated wallpapers for surfaces in spaces that need to be protected. ie. Restaurants, Window surfaces and any surface that is exposed to the elements.

There’s a lot of possibility within the confines of a wall. A wall graphic is a broad term and can be explored in many different ways. Graphics placed on a wall draw the viewer into the world that you’re creating. Wall graphics add to the immersion of an installation, either complimenting the work within the show or by becoming the artwork itself.

Some applications might be; Wall Posters, Wall Titles, Wrapped Panels, Printed art & Photography, Print Mounting, Window Tinting, Window Graphics; Transparent or blockout, Forme Cut Graphics. And plenty more.

Carefully weaving these into your show can make all the difference, and combining them with other key components such as light and sound will produce an incredible show that will remain in minds long after it closes.

Considerations for the different types of materials and output styles are made on a case by case basis. Deciding on which option suits your project can be a difficult thing. We find designers often come to us wanting to know their options. And that’s just part of the process, we can engage with designers and artists in all stages of a shows development. And we encourage a chat, no matter how far down the line you are.

Some factors we find designers are weighing up can be;

Finish – different materials offer different finishes, some resulting in a more artistic look and some resulting in a more photographic look. each contributing a slightly different aesthetic, subtle but important details.

Application – Indoor, Outdoor, MDF, Glass, Hanging, Long term, Short term, each of these can dictate the options that are available and the ones that are not so practical.

Budget – Always (unfortunately) a Major player in this decision, and so one that cant be ignored. Budget is why a lot of designers will come to us about options, seeing alternative solutions with varying prices can really help to lock in a decision .

Our top suggestion, whatever your situation, would be to start a conversation. We’re always happy to answer questions however small they might feel. So put all your Ideas down into the box and let’s dive into them together.

Graphics for high energy surfaces such as glass and mirrors.

Window tinting or glass graphics can be a good way to utilise light in a gallery space. Often natural light is a factor in most gallery spaces, and so tinting the glass that it passes through can be a good way to incorporate the light as an element in the exhibition.

Windows are generally pretty good realestate to display graphics as they’re often not obstructed.

Can be great for creating a mood in a space. We can now print colours to match/suit a specific requirement or spec. Detailed graphics can be applied to glass, varying opacities from transparent to opaque. Create a graphic that is opaque in some sections and transparent in others.

The world of window graphics is evolving. Removing is now easier than it has been, no more nightmare removals leaving residue or snapping as soon as you add some pressure.

Counihan Gallery Future River: When the past flows

23 Dec 2023 – 7 Apr 2024

Underneath each building or stretch of asphalt there are deep layers of meaning and history. Beneath the concrete there are countless stories not memorialized. Future River: When the past flows examines the Indigenous understanding that cities are obfuscations of what is — that monuments conceal the past.

Under our cities, the rivers and creeks still flow, and with them the Indigenous narratives of the past that will naturally become future rivers. Though we may try to cage and redirect the flow of water using concrete, the waterways will inevitably run their own course.”
