Carl Barron ~ Walking down the Street.

This guy is popular, have just checked out his schedule at A-List Entertainment and his shows at the Atheneaum are booked out, then he moves on to the Princess Theatre (better get in quick, can organise your tickets via A-List Entertainment, then off to Brisbane and Sydney next year. Rik, our PM, happened to get along to a show and said he was in pain for the first 20 mins, particularly enjoying his adlibbing introduction. I don’t think a lot of comedians are funny, I don’t find Seinfeld, Monty Python and Space Balls funny (I am gonna get into heaps for admitting this, these are John’s all time favourites, Space Balls, please), but I find all things French and Saunders funny, Little Britain really funny, Summer Heights High, Billy Connolly etc (maybe it’s a girl thing). I also find Carl Barron funny, really funny. The taylormadesigns team were lucky enough to see Carl a few years back. If I pinpoint my particular comedic fettish I think what I find funny is a comedian’s ability to make a joke of situations we’ve all been in ~ Carl Barron’s show ‘Walking Down The Street’ I imagine captures these situations well. The banner for this show (under awning) is a little eclipsed by mega star Shane Warne The Musical (this is the winter version of signage), we will soon be replacing this with the summer version (so stayed tuned). Shane Warne the Musical lands here in December.

Street Beat | Ritzenhoff 2008, 2007

It’s 7:00am, the city sleeps and John on his ride to work spies the Ritzenhoff Beetle 2008, not the best shot as it was found lurking in the shadows of an early morning ….

well a couple of people were up and about …

an online offering and from a little way back; the 2007 Ritzenhoff Beetle at the races ..

Street Beat | Nutrient Water Response Unit

Last weekend I also saw the Nutrient Water Response Unit stop in Elizabeth Street in front of Myer and start handing out their drinks to a busy city centre - their van so colourful, clean and obvious and hence drawing a crowd - they were there 5 mins then gone … Check out their website, they’ve fleshed it out a lot more since I last visited, and yet another good example of brand continuity.

It’s fun to watch how businesses use their vehicles to get bang for their AutoSkin buck … it empowers you to drive your own campaign which is what we are all going to have to do if a recession starts to bite but you can have fun with it too. Get inventive, start small and grow big!! It just might take a little bit more time but let people know what separates you from the pack - what’s your point of difference?

The Perpetual Calendar + coloured vinyl stamps …

Katrina from Unleeshed Promotion and Model Management just attached a pic of their perpetual calendar in use for Oct / Nov 08 showing the colour coded low tac vinyl stamps used each day to provide a snapshot of what is going on and where. Unleeshed are a model and promotion management company. We have custom formatted 3 training Wall Scrawls for their models for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and one large Perpetual Calendar (shown here) for Melbourne to provide an overview for all states using these coloured low tac vinyl stamps that will attach to the perspex and are easily removed given their low tac adhesion. The printed formats have been printed black ink (50% opacity) onto clear film and slide between two layers of 6mm perspex so that when they need updating the film can be removed and replaced with new printed material.

It’s always nice to get some good feedback too …. from Katrina (GM, Unleeshed),

‘….  The Wall Scrawls are going great. They have helped our business in many ways ….’

Well thought out design and implementation …

Smarter Bathrooms have worked on their business, they have developed a plan and executed it in stages. Firstly they have worked on how they want their business to be represented with logos, colours, imagery etc, then they have used this design across several advertising mediums - we recently received a printed double sided card in the mail from Smarter Bathrooms; they have advertised in home magazines; their website is informative and updated with news; their street presence visually = online presence = mobile (AutoSkin) advertising and all other forms of advertising they use to spread the word about their business. They appeal to a wide market so have to spread their advertising wings widely.
