On top of the World

This one is hot of the press coming through from the guys at Decently Exposed as I write this. It’s an AutoSkin (see other site button above) but am posting here for the PrintAsArt crossover to follow on from previous post on Wall Decals. Another example of a graphic application albeit on a car but the same graphic could be a wall installation, a building wrap, wallpaper for a bedroom, printed onto a window blind etc.

And…. check out the text on this car for rooftop cinemas - a bit of retro cool, a bit funky and again can be used across so many applications: to a window, a wall, a canvas, a printed bag, a window blind. A bit of retro inspiration for you all! The site for rooftop cinemas is an expansion of the themes used on their promo vehicle.

Wall Decals

Wall, Window, Column, Fridge, Forme Cut, Printed Decals … the list goes on.  Decals are popular for all sort of reasons but mainly because they are a fairly inexpensive way of creating a short term change to your wall or window space or any applicable space really, could be applied to a box, a fridge, and we all also do big decals for cars and buildings.  They enable you to personalise your space.  But the tricky part is finding something you would like to put on your wall.  There are plenty of businesses out there selling their wares but not all is good in decal land.  So here’s a couple of my favourites …blik surface graphics have plenty to offer and show great examples of their work on their blog. If you are looking for something that combines rich graphics, textures, patterns, text and photographic imagery then check out Harmonie Interieure and in particular their photo stickers that are quite amazing, just click and go into their site.  If you want to create your own their are plenty of free vector graphics out there but the good stuff is not always so easy to find.  A great resource is Go Media and their Arsenal range.  You can pretty much purchase their work at a very reasonable cost - vector graphics, brushes, textures and fonts and use them in any application both personal and commercial without fear of copyright breaches.  They sell their range in packs but you can buy an individual set also.  The range is huge with something for everyone and their GoMediaZine (their blog) is pretty cool with lots of tutorials and freebies ….  Check out their work at GoMedia for more ideas.  by the way, Go Media (Arsenal 2) have just upgraded their website and they have a vector pack available for the Grand Opening priced at $USD 1 dollar but just for today …

So where do we fit in; well designers tend to come to us with finished artwork files that we then forme cut out of coloured vinyl or print as a graphic decal think wallpaper, wall skin, etc… If you know what you want we can produce the artwork for you and there’s plenty more to come in 2009 but for now a few examples of decals …

client | round - wallpaper image printed and installed by us

client | round - same image this time printed on clear and applied to a window

client | carina sherlock - forme cut printed graphics and vinyl

And finally 3M have just developed a vinyl that can be applied to textured surfaces - will need to trial first but it will have many applications in both the art and signage worlds …

Street Beat | Wilson Street …

Ok so we are guaranteed to see an AutoSkin in this street, it’s our very own, but take a look at who’s driving through. John took this photo and assumed these clients were coming to see him, so he waited, got out the camera because he knows I want shots for this very blog and I’ll write a post on just about anything relating to our work. But Nutrient Water weren’t dropping in to see him, they were dropping off a few cartons to a client in our street, and then further afield The Fresh Flower Man pulled over and jumped out with a big bouquet of flowers in hand … they weren’t for me, he was dropping them off to another client in the street. John thought that was pretty weird and well, pretty cool too when you take stock of this photo and count the AutoSkins … there’s plenty of work at the moment, so much so that we are falling behind with enquiries which is not good. But you know it’s Christmas and there’s only so much you can squeeze in before the end of the year. Now fielding enquiries for 2009 …..

ps: Nutrient Water did end up dropping a box off to the boys … they get very well looked after those boys thanks to many generous clients …

Big 4: Deniliquin (Paringa) & Shepparton East Pull Ups

Pull ups are a great way of advertising your products | services | special promotions on the move. They are light weight, transportable and as you can see pull up to deliver your advertising message in a snap. There are varying degrees of stand quality and size and it really comes down to what the client wants to spend and image size. They are basically a retractable display stand (the image retracts into the base) a bit like a reverse holland blind or ye olde projector screen pull up if you’re still not with me. The point is that, being transportable, they are great for exhibitions, stalls, shows etc to display information about your product or service and entice people to look see. Here we created a memo board style display of information (pinned memos and images) for Paringa Caravan Park in Deniliquin run by our friends Lynda and Pud. Initially we suggested a corkboard image background but Lynda was a bit hesitant. Big 4 Shepparton East liked the cork background and said, ‘We’ll have that”. When we delivered both to Lynda of Paringa, she rang back to say how great they were and that the corkboard one did look good. John said, “I told you so ~ bad luck! Off to the Caravan and Camping show they both did go, retractable in hand to set up their stand.

Street Beat | Uber Star Car

Uber Star Car affectionately known as “Corky” by the team at Decently Exposed.

You might remember that a little while back we wrapped the Uber Star car in a cork pinboard image with stick on notes and memos etc. It’s be doing the rounds of the MINI Challenge this time at Bathurst. This image arrived in Rik’s email from Sebastian at MINI showing the Uber Star car hitting the Pit Wall, and being signed by Boris Said. His signature next to other notable Uber Star Car drivers, including Paul Mercurio.
