Back Story /
We came up with the idea for a clear acrylic, dry erase whiteboard back in 1997 when we were renovating our home. We had a very ‘on trend’ (at the time) lime green, feature wall opposite our kitchen. It was centrally located in the walk through that connected the front of the house to the new, rear open plan addition. So we thought this was a good place to jot down notes, memos, shop lists, appointments and to do lists for all to see. Aesthetically, we were looking for something unobtrusive. With our background in signage and print, we looked at materials that would fill this brief. Clear acrylic was the bomb. Barely noticeable on the wall when not in use, an easy surface to write on and clean without ghosting. It also had minimalist aesthetic appeal. It actually became a product a few years later when we decided to sell the house. We wrote a welcome note on it for people coming through to view the house before auction. Our real estate agent mentioned that a lot of people were commenting on the acrylic whiteboard saying it was a great idea. That was enough to get us thinking about turning this little idea into a product.
Unfortunately, we do not have an image of the lime green wall with our Wall Scrawl on it.
Wall Scrawl ~ changing the look of the whiteboard /
It took us a while to come up with a name for our product finally deciding on Wall Scrawl. The idea of handwritten scrawl across a minimalist clear whiteboard was an appealing aesthetic. A fluid logo was tied to the catchphrase, Wall Scrawl ~ changing the look of the whiteboard! The end result was a frameless, clear 8mm (no flex) whiteboard with polished edges combined with quality “Multi Mount” anodised aluminium fixings to make installing a simple DIY process. We’ve been selling the original acrylic whiteboard since 2001. The initial offering has grown into a diverse range of acrylic and magnetic whiteboards with options to print colours, logos, brand elements, images, illustrations, graphics, custom planners, timetables and schedules.
