Bedford CF late 70s
Bulla Family Dairy have bought an original Bedford CF (Icecream) Van and given it a retro inspired makeover to serve its original purpose, that of bringing ice treats to the streets of Melbourne this summer.
Their campaign is centred around the word “unfakeable” which they have also trademarked. The word represents the rich cultural history and passion of this brand, one of Australia’s oldest dairy businesses producing cream, icecream, frozen yoghurt and fresh cheese since 1910. Tradition, ingredients and longevity are all hashtag ‘unfakeable’. And they will be taking this message to the streets using this colourfully wrapped icecream van. Summer, family fun and an icecream on the beach; it doesn’t get much more Aussie than that.
The vehicle wrap, designed by MKT Communications for Bulla Family Dairy, maintains the tradition of an old school icecream van in colour and vibe with a modern font twist that is clean and immediately appealing. Good design is unfakeable too. Coincidentally this enquiry was a referral by Darshan who with another 2 business partners headed up Design Driven back in the early 2000s. Design Driven were one of the first experiential marketing groups to start using creative vehicle wraps designed by advertising agencies for larger brands. This vehicle wrap for Bulla Family Dairy has all the hallmarks of a Design Driven campaign ~ creative, eye catching and mobile. MKT Communications came up with the creative and sent through pre Christmas. In the first week of January we pumped out 60 metres of print to cover this original 1970s Bedford CF icecream van along with another Mercedes Sprinter icecream delivery van. Those who grew up in the 70s will recall the tunes of a Mr Whippy van driving through their local streets and popping up at the beach and other outdoor social venues. I remember Mr Whippy dropping by our local cricket ground whilst watching dad play cricket on many a weekend. What a treat and memory, let the tradition continue.
